To Covent Garden to see the big tree!
Last night, went out in the chilly weather to get more chilly at the ICEBAR! Went for drinks before in Soho, and made it on time for our 11 pm reservation, only to find that my camera, the one being depended on by the group for documentation of this spectacle event, was missing the battery! (I came home to find it plugged into the wall, being charged, grrrrrr) Anyways, we paid our 15 pounds (!) (yeah...), were draped in these silver capes that came with fur lined hoods and attached mittens, and walked into the small room that is the ICEBAR. The floors and ceiling weren't even ice!!!!!! Just about everything else was though, we each got our included cocktail in a glass made of ice, danced a bit using the large capes as the impetus for some new moves, slid around the walls for awhile and then my feet got cold and I suggested we leave. It was pretty, pretty hysterical though, just seeing a mass of people in these capes in a small room........It is really too bad that there are no photos documenting this event, since really the whole point of going is to take pictures of yourself wearing these rediculous capes standing in an igloo bar. Literally everyone else there spent the whole time taking pictures of eachother.
Met up with Lou's coworker Ross, and tried to get into this Bar called the Hideout. The Hideout is at 57 Greek St, if you'd like to know, and it is a very nondescript dark blue door. The instructions were to ring the bottom buzzer (Vicky or Tracy or something) and then when the man comes to the door, which he did, you say "we'd like to go to the bar please", which we did, however the bar was "full up". I am determined to go back, and go down those dark stairs and see what lies beneath. Apparently the clientele was once of a mobster sort of posse, and the 40-60 yr. old wealthy customers and barstaff have hung on.....well, another night.
The night finally concluded with a trip to the "legendary" Bar Italia, also in Soho. I had an excellent cappuccino that kept me up until 4 in the morning and a canneolli and the place was just awesome in general. Those Italian cake boxes hanging from every surface that wasn't either a) mirrored or b) covered in blinking white xmas lights.
Then, the 453 night bus home with Lou, that long long drive down down down Old Kent Road.
Today is Saturday and I think I am going to go out in search of a new jacket and Primrose Hill. More Later.
